For sale is a Gretsch 6124 Single pick up guitar 10 year anniversary model from 1959. Guitar needs some work. I originally bought it to play jazzy stuff with flatwound strings. After purchasing, I noticed that the pots were scratchy and dirty but the pick up sounded great and the neck felt really good. I did not have that fixed or looked into. When I took it to be restrung I had the guys at Gottschalk’s Music take a look at it. They noticed some previous neck repairs where the neck meets the body. They stopped tightening the new strings when it appeared part of the neck was loosening as the tension increased They talked to their tech who determined that it might require some work to get it safely playable. They estimated it could take nearly $850 dollars to do it right from a trained luthier. Needless to say I chose not to do this.
The guitar is sold as is as more of a project guitar. If you can do these repairs then its a deal, if not and you want a vintage Gretsch and are okay with the idea of the added cost or repair, then this could be worth it. Reverb lists some similar examples at between $2000-$1400 dollars without any issues. We can meet up and I can show it to you. I am asking $550 or OBO. PICK UP ONLY. No Trades.
