Original professionally framed and matted watercolor landscape painting of Australia, signed by the Australian aboriginal artist, Peter Taylor Tjutjatja (1940-2014: His name is included here to identify him. Traditional Aboriginal culture forbids the naming of the dead.). The piece is untitled and resembles other works of his of the Macdonnell Mountain Ranges in the Northern Territory of Australia.
Peter Taylor Tjutjatja was born in Oodnadatta, South Australia. As an adult, he became a student of the Hermannsburg School, a movement or style that began in the 1930s at the Hermannsburg Mission, an Aboriginal community in the Northern Territory of Australia. Hermannsburg artwork is characterized by brightly colored impressionist watercolor landscapes of the Australian outback, particularly Australia's Macdonnell Mountain Ranges.
Tjutjutja's work has been displayed in numerous exhibitions worldwide and can be found in several public and private international art collections, some of which are The Donald Kahn Collection; The Lowe Art Museum of Miami, Florida; The Kelton Foundation of Santa Monica, California; and Princess Anne's (Britain's House of Windsor) collection, who commissioned Tjutjutja to paint five watercolors of the Central Australian landscape
