A parents perspective............. (Fresno)

I am looking for childcare for my daughter starting in three weeks and enjoy this board and thought I would add a parents perspective on the chit chat. I would hope that I could find a quality childcare experience for my little girl. Licensed would be better than unlicensed as I would be guaranteed some safety issues, background checks, etc (plus some) versus unlicensed care. I would also hope that the person who cares for her is educated, which would mean that she should be able to spell and use grammar correctly, so that she could teach it to my daughter appropriately. Kindergarten through 12th grade teachers have to have a bachelors degree to teach our children in public schools, and birth to five is a more susceptible age for learning, so why would I expect anything less for the most important thing in my life? Preschool activities are vital for the future of the child. The more child development education, the better. The unlicensed people appear to be charging about the same rate as the licensed people, so it seems to me that the licensed caregivers should raise their rates or the unlicensed people should lower their rates. I wouldn't contact any of the people who appear uneducated, or very young and look like teen parents themselves, as my daughter's caregiver is of the utmost importance since, as a single mom, I am unable to stay home and care for her myself. The people who respond to the posts with anger and vengeance just appear ignorant themselves or have a lack of education and knowledge with a self appearing inadequacy in their own lives.
